anyone using them,
how do they fit?
any technical issues? photos?
im not looking to gain more HP as i know the long tube headers
would be better for that.
i did the heads on my car yesterday and upon further inspection
found that both exhaust manifolds and heat riser are cracked through.
i had been hearing a slight exhaust leak for some time but thought it was at the sidepipe joints.
so now i am being held up at finshing until i either find another set of
exhaust manifolds and heat riser for my 78 or buy a set of block huggers
Since I was building a custom setup for my sidepipes, I had to use block huggers. I chose Sandersons because they had the largest diameter tubes I could find. I had to have them modify the driver's side to clear the steering box, but that was because I had aftermarket heads. I also got the ceramic coated ones and really love them.
Here's a link to some pictures on my site. Link
I had stainless steel block huggers on my '80/GM 350 HO crate. They burned up 3 sets of plug wires and melted the poly in the Energy motor mounts. I switched to full length ceramic coated headers. I chose block huggers in the first place to same some $$ but ended up spending a LOT more than if I had just installed full length headers in the first place.
You can buy side exit headers where the collector is hidden behind the fender (unlike the hookers) that will work with your side pipes. They're better than shorty headers.
