its obviously a fiberglass replacement?....and if so...how is it flexing?

here is a pic of mine - pre clear - once it is attached it is fairly rigid and hardly moves at all - even in the center at the split.....

This is what supports you should have under the bumper cover.

JH,
The only thing that holds the bumber on are the 18 10-32 bolts
around the lip that bolts to the body that I know of.

My fiberglass cover on my 74 flexed in the bottom crnter. There are two angle braces that attach to the bottom of the license plate area and angle up and forward to a frame cross member. Its different than the illustration of the 75 posted by Jud Chapin.

You can buy some flat steel or alum strips (1" wide) and drill some holes (slots prefered) and bend into proper angle. That's what I did after my fiber ones broke.

You need these:

Don't drive without them. I trashed the bumper on my '74 because
they were missing and I didn't know about them.

These two bumper braces are unique to the 1974.

paul67 is correct, the 74 has it's own set of braces.

I kept mine when I had the new Fiberglass bumper installed.

I am very quickly learning that the 1968 is not alone in having unique parts. The 1974 is not far behind, e.g. tail lights.

...actually, because of the way the '74 taillights are mounted independently of the rear bumper itself, the '74 rear bumper replacement is much easier to do than the '75 to '82 cars are.
