Default 81' won't start-need some help

My friends 81' won't start after sitting over the winter. It has 12V to the cap with the key on. Repaced all the ignition parts (module too) still won't start. No spark at plugs. Distributor rotates. Getting fuel. any suggestions on what to look at next? Starter solenoid? It cranks over fine.

Doesnt the 81 need a signal from the computer to fire?
edit - actually I think Im wrong about that I think the ECM only controls the timing.
Be sure and check the rotor over real good as some of those fired through the rotor directly into the dist shaft.

Take a plug wire off the cap and see if there's spark. Probably not from the description. take the cap off the distributor, leave it plugged in and crank- see if the coil is firing. If it does, replace the rotor and give it a shot. No fire, maybe the coil. Check the pickup coil- make sure the 2 little wires are good. You can check the coil with a meter- it plugs into the module.

I think the 81 still has an ecm. Did he check the fuses? I think there is one for the ecm as well.

Check the leads that go to the module. There is a problem with the ends, and they do make replacements. Cheers
