Motive products pressure bleeder
Has anyone used a pressure bleeder on their braking system ? If so do you have any words of advice for a novice. Are there any potential problems in using this method to flush your hydraulic system ?

I have one and had a difficult time getting it to seal around the master cylinder. I finally used a large clamp along with their system to get it to work. Once I got the master cylinder sealed it worked great.

Get two large C-clamps and use them instead of the absolutely worthless chain sysem they provide! Unless, you enjoy cleaning up a lake of brake fluid under the car and all over the engine! Once you make that leap, the bleeder is terrific!
Good luck!

as far as the pressure bleeder is concerned, go and buy it now! .. you wont regret it!
the guys are correct, trash the chain assembly away, and get a 8 in. or something C clamp with a flat peace of metal on the pressure cap (I used a peace of old brake pad as a support).
I used it several times to flush my brake fluid and get a new fluid in the system, it works like charm.

Buy it now, think about it later
Great tool! Use the chain setup provided to position the adapter in place then add a piece of 2x4 wood on top and clamp down on it with a large c-clamp.
I would not try to do a C3 brake job without it.
-Mark.

here is a thread from the C2 section, look at post #10 from JohnZ and his picture - that will show you how to best make the Motive Bleeder work using a big C clamp as already recommended previously in this thread.

I used an aluminum plate...
....about 1/4' thick, a piece of rubber as a surface gasket, and large c-clamp...no leaks at all. Works like a champ. I also made my own pressure bleeder from a garden weed sprayer thing. I installed a pressure gauge to monitor pressure.
I also quit bench bleeding after getting the pressure bleeder. Took off and reinstalled my master cylinder and it didn't seem to matter whether I bench bled or not.

I used a lot of different bleeding procedures over the years and the Motive is what I like the best. Yes I too tossed those jack chains out and use a C clamp. The thing that I like about this is you can pump it up to 10 -11 psi and check for leaks in the system. If you have any the gauge will drop. If not then you can bleed the entire system clean and fast. I still put a clear tube on the bleeder and go into a jar of clean BF. Buy it.

I'm a newb, never bled anything and I found this very easy. I used the C-clamp with block of wood to mount to the M/C. Wood, metal, whatever you just need something hard and flat to spread the load out over the cap so it seals nice and evenly.
Also, I always inspect the hoses carefully before each use...there was a guy on here a year or so ago that had a hose rupture and spray fluid on his paint Seems like an isolated incident.
