1970 wiper door pops up

can anyone explain why the wiper door opens when I start the car? I can only push it closed after I turn it off to keep it down. thanks

Vacuum is not getting to the small port on the vacuum relay or the relay is bad.Try applying vacuum to that port and see if it will go down.

is this the relay the wiper arm pushs on or the one that is on the driver side near the wiper pump?

Mine did the same thing. After you start the car get out and push the passenger's side wiper down so that it makes positive contact with the switch. I'll bet the door will close.

Not sure if yours is next to the wiper or under the pass. fender-follow the 2 hoses from the actuator to the relay.
