Leaking Brake Booster Problem
I am still fighting to find any potential vacuum leaks now that I have the fresh engine in. My booster would not hold a vacuum and I found that a seal was bad at the end of the booster where the pushrod comes through to meet the MC. The replacemen solved the leak, but only "at rest."
The booster will now hold a vacuum while the brakes are not applied and the check valve is good. While driving this weekend, I noticed that the idle will increase about 300 RPM when heavily applying the brakes to stop. The idle increase doesn't occur without moderate to heavy braking. It will not really drop while holding the brakes at a light.
I tested it tonight and it will not hold a vacuum with the brakes applied. I am wondering if possibly this is an adjustment issue with the pushrod or if my booster is shot. I have watched the other thread going on about the difficulty of this job and am not too excited about replacing it.
