how difficult wast if for people to install the regular hooker competition headers? did they mate right up to the stock exhuast after the exhaust was cut to the right length?

I installed mine when I had the heads off so I'm not sure how hard it would be to get them in. This is only an issue with the drivers side because of the steering box and column. The passanger side is very easy. You will need to have a muffler shop make up some pipes to connect the header collector up to the existing exhaust pipes. In my case, mine are clamped at the crossmember so I only needed a piece that is bent and welded to the collector adapter, and then slips over the existing pipe near the
crossmember,where it is then clamped.

Mine went in pretty easy. I jacked the car up about 6 inches and slid them up from underneath the car. You will have to remove the clutch Z bar if yours is a 4spd. As mentioned above, you'll need to have custom intermediate pieces bent and welded to the collector. The intermediate pipes then mate to the rest of the stock exhaust system right where it passes through the frame holes.
