Default 74 Seat Belt Question

I have a 74 Vette with later than 1974 seatbelts installed. The connectors do not match to the connectors under the seats. My problem is on many occasions I must "reset" the "circuit breaker" under the hood on the passenger side of the engine compartment to allow the starter to engage. Is there a recommended method to bypass this device? I guess it is a good theft deterrent! Any help is greatly appreciated.

I bypassed the interlock system right next to the neutral safety switch. There is a green/blk 12g wire going out & another coming back to complete the starting circuit right before the neutral safety. After taking out the center console, it was pretty easy to see how the circuit ties into the purple & purple/white wire start circuit. I did have the added benefit of just redoing someone else's work that had come apart.
Hope it helps

Thanks for the excellent information. I will now be able to start my 74 without the mandatory raising of the hood and pressing the relay button.
