Yank out my trans today so I could change the clutch. I'm putting in a new Clutch , Pressure plate , Throw out bearing , Pilot bearing , & resurfacing the fly wheel.
Is there anything else I should change while I have everything apart ?
So Idont have to pull that Bi**h back out
PS the 10 spline shaft Had some circular play in it I knowit slidesinto the crank but should I be worried . Staring at the shaft straight on it move about 1/8-3/16 in any direction.

It's a good time to make sure all the linkages are tight and nothing is loose or binding.
I would be worried with that much slop in the shaft. Maybe someone better with manual transmissions will chime in.

Check the clutch fork where it contacts the throwout bearing. Make sure the fingers are not worn down to much. A new fork is relativly cheap if it has never been replaced before.
The play in the input shaft is fairly normal for a trans with some miles on it. How did it shift before removing it. You might want to pull off the side cover and look at the syncros and gears to make sure nothing is chipped or broken. Now is the time to check this while it is on the ground.

All of the TKO vendors talk about the importance of centering the bellhousing in relation to the pilot bearing. I know that very few people did it back in the 60's and 70's. Of course the trannies were not as precision as they are now. Case in point, using 90W then versus ATF or GM syncromesh lube now. Any thoughts on the procedure?
Now you have me curious. What does the clutch disc and flywheel look like. Was the disc frozen to the flywheel? Is there surface rust on the flywheel?
It was seized to the pressure plate I had to whack it with a 28oz ballpean hammer to seperate them yess the fly wheel and pressue plate both had surface rust .Last time we drove the car got caught inthe rain and I dont have that metal cover that goes in front of the bell hosing behind the fly wheel.
