Hello Fellow Vetteheads,
Just took the Vette out of storage and the air will not kick in. I know that if the pressure switch is not made that the clutch will not engage, that being said, I still have my R12 refridgerant and can not find any to charge back up....The local auto store says he has a product that is compatible with R12..is there such a product? He also said that he has a conversion kit to go to 134 for 35$ and that it will work. Does anyone out there have any knowledge about either process??? I certainly do not want to ruin the air, and I do not want to spend alot of money on it. The tunnel gets very hot and the air helps, it is well insulated but still on trips the shoes come off. Thank All of You in Advance for your suggestions.
Please! What year we dealin' with here? I stay away from the 'replacement' refrigerants because they're all propane based. R134-a works well as a replacement, but there are a few steps involve to use it sucessfully. R12 has actually dropped significantly in price, but you need a license to buy it and not many shops still deal with it.
R12 is available on Ebay for about $25/12 oz. can. You either need a EPA 609 license or provide a letter of intent to sell it to a licensed tech. I sell it on Ebay. PM me if you are interested.
