BB build headers...?
Ok, guys I know there's alot of opinions out there about this; but I am ready to start buying parts for the engine rebuild. I had orginally planned on getting a nice set of repro ex manifolds and having them ported and coated; however this will come in quite $$$.
I am running a stock hood and will be doing a mild rebuild of the LS-5; roller hydraulic cam etc. Keeping the stock hood will limit my intake options and thus I was going to send an alum chevy unit off to get ported by gessler. I was going to send him a pair of repro manifolds, but the $700 for a US made set, plus ~$300 to get ported and another ~$250 for the coating has me thinking!
Anyone have any advice? REAL HP gain with a given header system would help. I know that I can get the ported units to flow "ok"; but not quite like a header. Any brand info with fitment etc would help. I have a LS-5 with air.
What about Stainless Works? I also heard that Edelbrock is coming out with a set for BB vette.
other details; I have ported heads, and a cam ~ 222 dur. Not yet decided, waiting on the head work.
