Steering column back drive cable on Tremec?

I get my light and look down by the column in the engine compartment all ready to pull the drive back cable from the column arm and it's not there.....
Instead the arm is held up by this high tech wire tie. That being a tie..... with a wire in it. You know, like how you close back up the bag the bread comes in? Yeah, that kind.
So, I'm wondering. With all the "mods" (loose, very loose, oh so loosely used a term) on here, and the fact that it's a '75 and should have the cable, but then I have a 5 speed Tremec in here.
Does the Tremec even have a back drive cable?
Is it necessary?
Should I contrive a more permanent solution to keeping the lever up than the present "wire tie"?
