Even after I had my rear end reshimed this summer (Don't go there), it still howls some. I guess I should have replaced the gears too.
Anyway, I picked up two bottles of GM posi additive. Should I just add this to what's in there? Or should I drain and replace the gear lube too? If so, what is the best brand to hopefully stop the noise?
Thanks!
The oil level should be up to the drain hole already, so I would assume you will have to remove some anyway. IMO, it never hurts to change the oil, so go ahead and do it. Also, my GM guy said just add one bottle of additive with GM oil. I know others have said that they add 2, but he said that's not necessary.
Cool  I was looking for Redline when I changed my rear end oil about 6 months ago, and ended up just going with the GM. It was the easy way out. I do need to change the gear oil in the Tremec in the Z28 though.
