Default 10 speed tranny

crazy question, but does anyone make such a thing for a vette..

History: ive been thinking about gas prices, speed, gearing.. and so on.i basically came to the conclusion if the tranny had more gears, eventually you would be goin 70mph at idle... hence saving gas, and wearing less on the engine..

im not sayin it would really take 10... but whats out there?
is it even a good idea to run that low rpms at highway speed?
anyone know what it would take to make one me self?

Any trans with more than 6 speeds would be very bulky. But you could do a 6 speed than add a Gear Vendors overdrive. That would give you 12 speeds and 2 in reverse.
Interesting concept but probably more gears than you need.

And most people's idle isn't strong enough to hold 70mph... unless you used a cam that made all your power below 3000 RPM.

hmmmm.......
70 mph at idling rpm.....

you better pull your chev out and put in a caterpillar diesel.

If you are that concerned about fuel economy, get a prius!

A six speed is a you need. My C5, with 6 speed and 3.42 rear, is turning 1,400 rpm at 70 mph in 6th gear.

im not totally concerned with gas prices, especially since this car was bought purely as a toy. just tryin to think of what could be done. i was kinda considering the overdrive doubleing my gears.. i know trucks use 'em. i wasnt sure if they made em for cars.
thanks for the info!
