Default Drove the Vette Today!!

Well the vettes back on the road after sitting for a year. I finished a total rebuild of the rear.

I had mixed emotions about the ride, however. It felt like tires were out of balance and a bit "shakey". Also the rear seemed a bit loose too. On the other hand, it sure was nice to drive it again.

My question is how far up should the nut be on the 8" trailing arm to leaf spring bolt? I'm guessing the higher up, the tighter the rear will be.

Thanks in advance.

The TA to spring bolts adjust the ride hight of the rear. The higher the nuts, the larger the distance from the top of the tire to the lip of the fender. I don't think adjusting the ride hight will make the rear any more loose or tight, though it may change the ride a very slight amount. Doubt if you can actually feel it in most situations.

You developed a flat spot or two on the tires from sitting. it makes the entire car feel squirrely and thumpy. Maybe after a few spirited miles the tires will recover. If not, a belt may have shifted.

This happened to me but my Vette was sitting for several years. New tires made a huge difference.

I think that you guys are dead on about the tires, because it is a bit bumpy and I know that it's been sitting for a while.

The ride height looks good in the rear in my opinion. I will take some pics later and post.

Thanks.
