Well, was in Autozone today and they had Desktop Dyno2000. What can I say, the price was the same as Jegs and the tax was less than shipping.

Anyway, got home and plugged in the numbers for the old 8.5:1 L-48. Used the flow numbers for 882 heads of the CHP site since that is the old stock head, 272 Energizer, dual plane, small tube headers.

The envelope please:

368 ft/lbs @ 4000 rpm (363 @ 3500, flat curve)
323 HP @ 5000 rpm

I'll take those numbers with a grain of salt, but it does make me feel better about this current combo.

I was just at AutoZone and all I saw was NHRA Drag Racing 2 and some motor cycle racing game. Both games were $5 each. If I would have saw the DeskTopDyno2000 for that price I would have been all over it.

How much was the Dyno?

$39.99 same as Jegs plus sales tax of course.

Actually asked the counter guy on the off chance they had it and they had one copy behind the counter. He said it tended to grow legs if they kept it on the shelf. :nono:

Used this site http://www.aros.net/~rbuck/dyno2000/Welcome.html to get a lot of files on cams and heads. Lots of fun. Everything I have heard is +/- 10%.

Steve, Any chance of you running an engine combo for me? I called Jegs this week and a few other places with no luck. I guess Desktop Dyno has been a popular Xmas gift! My engine is a 454, bored .040 over with crane 296-2 cam, Merlin iron open chamber heads, with 2.25 intake and 1.88 exhaust. High rise GM intake with Holley 780 carb, headers with Flowmasters. Thanks for the help.

I may have a differnt progaram but I thought it was junk. Put some real radical things in. Like a roller cam or huge and I mean huge carb. It seems to fall down. played around with it and didn't like what it was saying.

LT1-Tom, I ran it through DD2K and this is what I got:497HP@6000RPM and 487LB@5000RPM. I made an assumption that you are running 9.5:1 compression. Obviously if you are running more compression, you will get more power. Sounds like a beast!!!

Thank you Compuvette, Yes I am going to have about 9.5 to 1 compression with Keith Black dome pistons. Looks like I will be paying attention to my trany and drivetrain!!! Thanks a lot for the info and have a merry Christmas!!!

That is one big cam! The torque numbers were a little low for my tastes at low RPM. But man, that thing will take off on the top end! Have fun and be sure to bring a broom to pick up the tranny and drivetrain! :chevy
