valve noise?
After my 454 warms up, it starts to make a clacketing (real word?) noise, but only after it warms up. A freind said i needed to adjust the valve of something. So far i have done all work to my car and i am a determined learner. How do i go about adjusting the valves? where do i find the specs for a custom built 454 and isn't a torque wrench needed? Please talk to me like a child when explaining because i know nothing! Thank you very much.

Are you saying the motor has been modified? Adjusting the valves is pretty easy on a hydraulic cam, different for a solid cam. Even the most basic manual, like a Haynes, will explain the proceedure better than I could with pics to boot. If you really want to learn more about motors consider getting a subscription to Hot Rod or a similar publication.

If you need the rocker arms / lifters / valves adjusted .... this will get rid of the clickity clackety! Zero lash + half a turn.
