Default C3 Fiber Optic Repair

I am repairing my shift console and all related parts. The fiber optic wires from the rear are cut off where they enter unter the console. I think I know that these cannot be just spliced. What do I need to know to fix this. I will have a new optic fiber light bar for the rear so I need to know how to extend the wires a foot or so and how to attach them to the light bar. If I have to replace the wire from the light sensor in the light socket all the way to the console light bar, what do I need to know about making the connections. Thanks.

I believe there are repair kits. I can't speak to how well they work but the only other alternative is to replace the fibber optics from the tail of the car through the passenger compartment and into the console.

Do a search. I had questions about the fiber optics in my '69 last year and I found a lot of information here by searching. There are kits, and if I remember correctly, to extend existing fibers, the fibers simply need to be correctly fused together.

I have to tell you in my personal experience with fiber optics. I found it easier to just replace the line JMPO. However guys in my old shop have made custom length optics you just need patients. Just waiver the cost of new ones and the repair kit .
