I've got a brand new Edelbrock Performer RPM Airgap in the box in the garage. It is plain aluminum, and I love the way it looks. How do I keep that look? Should I rattle can spray a clear coat? Or should I put a clear coat of powder coat on it. Does jet-hot do intake manifolds. How does Edelbrock do Endurashine? It looks like a high gloss silver powder coat. What do you all recommend? Any pictures?

Hey bud. Regular old fashioned Turtle Wax. When it dulls in a year or so, clean it all off and re-apply.
The problem with clear coatings and sealants is they all yellow from the heat and they have to be stripped off and re-sprayed, and taking the clear off is a lot harder than taking off wax.

I believe Jet-Hot does do intake manifolds. I have an Edelbrock SY-1 and I'm trying to figure out the same thing. One thought is to polish it, then have a coating like Jet-Hot applied. That may be similar to what the Endurashine coating.
Several people, like HPC do performance coatings to heat from getting into the manifold and thus heathing up the intake charge and robbing hp. Anyone have experience of those? I don't really care about the looks, so ... much. I have more of a "rat" vette with orginal but flawed paint and I don't care much
I looked into installing the Edelbrock 2701 with the enduroshine finish on my stock 77, but edelbrock said it was too high, the hood wouldn't close. They said the 2101 would fit, but doesn't come in enduroshine finish. I wonder why they don't offer both manifolds with the enduroshine finish, or make a 2701 version that will fit these cars without clearance problems??? Seems simple to me, but what do I know.

Ive got a 2701 manifold, 1406 carb, and SUM-239422 air filter to fit in my 1981
Hey Earl, is that air filter a drop base or just regular filter?? Right now I have a Holley 600 carb and Eldelbrock 8 or 9 inch filter installed. The guy from Edelbrock said the hood on my 77 would not close by 3/8 of an inch with the 2701, but he may have thought I had a stock air filter. Is there any way you could post a picture of your setup, or email one to me?? I would really like to install the 2701, but I'd like to know it's gonna fit first. Thanks,
Kenny
Rattle-canning it clear will make the manifold appear almost "gray", not sure if youll like it, wouldnt do it again myself. Even the "non=yellowing" paint yellowed. They dont like gas.
I have a interesting problem with my edelbrock air gap intake on my 540
I have only run the motor for about 20 min and am still doing the body work on the car.
Problem is my intake looks like its rusting!!
There is a orange tint on most of the intake now which looks like rust, its not in all places mostly on the top surfaces.
My only guess is some metalic type dust was on a cover I used to protect the motor during the bodyworf and when I opened the garage door the humidity change (which flushed my new rotors ) caused this dust to rust?
Anyone kow how I can clean off this satin finish intake?
Silver sparkle powder coating I had done on a four year old manifold. I think it came out pretty good for $80.Th guy that did it talked me out of the "chrome" color. He said in time the clear coat may break down and when you try to clean it, the chrome will end up turning black. The silver sparkle I had done will not do that.
