I'm seriously considering getting a "bolt-on" driveshaft loop for my 'Vette. I noticed Jeg's carries the Lakewood Universal driveshaft loop for $26.99....seems like it would be well-worth the money. What type of modifications will be needed to install this? I'm guessing, I'll need to drill holes to mount it.
What do you guys think? Is anyone else using one of these?

I'm not sure if the 467 will snap the driveshaft u-joints or not....but I don't want to find out the hard way. The purpose to having a driveshaft loop is in case you do bust a u-joint, the driveshaft won't flip your car over. $26.99 just seems like a no-brainer to me....like Clink said "it can't hurt."

I'm thinking the two ends are bolted to each side of the frame...but am unsure. That is why I asked you guys :). I'm sure someone on here can answer this question.
id get it just to be safe...nhra mandates them for 13.99 and faster becuase if the front ujoint breaks and the shaft digs in it can flip your car end over end...its not pretty.
The hole in the crossmember that the driveshaft goes through works pretty good as a loop, it will keep the shaft off the ground if either end busts. Found that out the hard way, at a very low speed though. Might not pass tech if you have stickies on though!
For those "not in the know," that drive shaft loop is to be mounted no more than 6" back from the center line of the universal joint, if you are looking to meet NHRA safety spec.s.

Do you mean 6" from center of the FRONT Ujoint?
