Default Vertical Ingnition Shields

Could someone please post a pic on how the vertical ignition shields secure on the bottom?? I've got the top figured out and got the distributor cover and supports on, but can't get the bottoms secured. I have done a search, but there just seems to be information on the top support.
Thanks
Dusty

Mine are unsecured at the bottom, only the wing nuts connected to the braces and simultaneously holding the top cover. Held in place by wire tension I guess.

They don't move and look great.

both left and right uprights have one hole each at bottom to bolt into rear intake manifold bolts.

On my 76 there are 2 brackets that bolt onto the block behind each head near the firewall. The vertical shielding pieces are fastened to the dizzy cover and these 2 brackets with wing nut/screws. The brackets have 4 hole grommets that slide into them and your plug wires run through them before making the bend to go under the exhaust manifolds and through more shielding.

Check the AIM if you have one. It'll give you a better idea.....HTH

I found the grommet and separator for the plug wires, but don't see any way to secure the bottom of the cover. The verticals have holes at the bottom that appear to be for securing to the block. I'll check the AIM when I get home.

Thanks,
Dusty

Just took a look at my AIM for the 76 and will clarify and or correct my post.

The drivers side vertical shield connects to the bracket with the long grommet.

The passenger side vertical shield is curved to the front of the car and passes around/under the bracket and grommet. It then attaches to a piece of horizontal shielding with a wing-bolt and j-nut.

In the end its still better to look at the AIM.

The chromed vertical shield covers, are attached at the bottom to the spark plug wire bracket atttached to the back of the block using "wing studs". See page 85 of the current Paragon C3 catalog PDF for a good diagram. The vertical shields are the same part for 68 - early 77. The spark plug wire bracket is the same 68 - 82.
