1968 427-390 auto NCRS car. At the present time the dist vacuum advance is in front of the vertical shielding bracket which puts a pretty good bend in the tach cable. The AIM shows the dist holdown screws at 15* from the back of the block which is just about where this one is.I have to remove the dist. to put some bushings and a breaker plate in.My question is- is this clocking position correct for NCRS standards? I sure would like to put that vac. adv. can behind the vertical bracket and take some of that bend out of the tach cable.
Mike Ward if I did put the can behind the vert. bracket and its not suppose to be there will the judges take note and deduct points?
Thanks !!!
I believe that the vac advance should be to the rear of the bracket, so when you pull the dist, rotate the oil pump clockwise "a bit" (count the number of teeth on the dist gear, and divide this into 360 to get the # of degrees to advance the oil pump).
I think this answer is correct, but one never knows.
