I just recently acquired a 73 T-Top with a 454 and it needs alot of attention. Does anyone have a recommendation on a good reference manual that details common problems with 73's and provides suggested repairs. I'm not interested in creating a show car. I just want to fix it up so it looks nice and is safe to drive so I can enjoy it. Thanks for any suggestions.
I didn't buy it to do a "restoration", but FWIW, the book "Chevrolet Corvette Restoration Guide" by Lindsay Porter seems like a pretty good overview of the rebuild process. It covers the major processes; bodywork (body gets pulled off the frame), interior, engine, suspension, frame, brakes, and even fiber optics. It also has a few pages on the convertible top.
How to Restore and Modify Your Corvette, by Richard Newton is an excellent book. If you are new to these cars as I was, it gives a great overall view of what you are in for. Also get an AIM (assembly instruction manual) for your car from any of the vendors (approx. $20.) Welcome to the Forum.
You can also get the AIM from most of the catalogs and vendors (some listed here on the forum).
You might get a better deal on eBay (I've bought several Corvette references from there), but be careful if it's a copy (don't know about the quality and wouldn't that be illegal anyway?).

They are all copy's... some better than others. Got mine from ZIP and some of the text near the edges of the pages is missing or not ledgable. Great reference source though!! "The Corvette Bible" as I call it!
Congrats! I suggest buying the AIM because it's diagrams are unmatched.
You are the 2nd Hokie in the last 2 months to join the C3 Forum! I graduated from VA Tech in May and have been a CF member since May of 1999. Best of luck with your '73 and I'll look for more of your posts.
A book you might be interested in is "Corvette Weekend Projects" by John Pfanstiehl. It is for C-3's and covers the more common repairs for the exterior, interior, chassis, and engine. It helped me with my wiper door trouble shooting.
