Default 1980 side pipes

Has anybody installed the original style 1969 Corvette side pipes on a 1980 Corvette? Do you have to modify the frame or the body to do it? I have been told that you have to cut holes in the frame and cut out part of the front fender well and also I wondered if the pipes would bolt up to the stock cast iron manifolds.

I have side pipes on my '81. I didn't need to modify any part of the car to make them fit. Check out these post they should cover what you want to know, I have a pic posted in one of them of the pipes on the side of the car.

I put them on my 80 a number of years ago and did not have to modify the front fender wells. I did however drill a 1" hole in the frame just ahead of where the pipe bolts the the frame just in front of the rear tire. The only reason i drilled these holes was to make it easier to install the mounting bolt. I drilled them about 1" ahead of the mounting hole and used one finger through the 1" hole to aid in inserting the 3/8 mounting bolt. And yes, they will bolt right to your cast iron Rams horn manifolds. Good luck.
