Comet cursor pop-up!!! Spyware!
You may not know this but comet cursor is spy ware that once installed on your computer reports your activities, I guess to some marketing company.
I just had it pop up and have had it before. Its not a simple delete to get rid of it, if you do download it.

There is a program called Ad-Aware, that you can get for free from www.download.com . This program will find spy-ware on your machine and give you several options on how to deal with it.

I just downloaded Ad-Aware and ran it. It found 72 items on my hard drive.
I deleted all of them.

I haven't seen Comet Cursor in months, but today 15 minutes after I read your message I hit a website that tried to load the damned thing. Fortunately, I run Zone Alarm firewall software and it caught it.

What is this and where do you get it from. I may have who knows how many people looking at my computer. Tell me more before I download something else.

Best thing to do is get good anti-virus protection. We run Trend-Micro (antivirus.com) at work and it nails this stuff. Make sure that the auto-update is working. Trend sends out a new virus def. file at least once a week. You would think that all those little hacker morons would have better things to do than write viruses. Chase women, work on vettes, the possibilities are endless!

can this type of program "steal" passwords? Went to logon to AOL today and it told me I couldnt logon because my son was logged on under his screenname.... except he wasnt! Changed all passwords but not sure how or who was on. MJ

I did a search on google.com Apparently its not what it first was reported as. It still sucks in my opinion but only tells the parent company that another sucker has downloaded their program for numbers uses.

It found 89 spy programs. 89!!!!
I was wondering why I was getting a bajilion junk emails a day.

I been using Adaware for quite some time. To stop having those spy programs return because they will as soon as you go to the original spot they were installed at. Copy the address site adaware has found and paste it in your cookie control.(YOU MUST HAVE Internet Explore 6.0) Go to tool, internet options, privacy, then edit. Put the site in the field and hit block. Next time your computer finds that spyware trying to load it will lock it out. Happy New Year
