Default rear wheel bearings

Change the wheel bearing it seems to be a little tight once I put in the hub.I bought the setup tool and everything seem to be ok with tool in hub .Not sure I am using tool right ,I put bearing on then spacer ,shim other bearing and then the 2 thick washer that came with tool the washers came out even with the bottom threads on tool tighten nut seem to be good spins real free then when I put in hub it seems to tighten up some? Does not turn as free.Did not get any direction with the tool.

Thanks gary

Here you go, sounds like you are not doing it correctly.

If you set the end play up correctly and then assemble it into the hub adding the seals and grease it wont turn as freely as it did while setting it up.

I did a set of arms today. I ground the shims to 0015 endplay with only spindle oil on the bearing while I set them up. When using the tool I lay into the bearings as once the rotor and wheel are on you can over load them checking for play. When the spindes were installed I rechecked the endplay and it was 002" fully assembled and torqued. They spin smooth no binding or drag. If you can not spin them you're too tight. If you're using one of those shim kits then you may not have parallel shims or enough sizes to dial in the endplay. Once pressed on chances are you'll wreck the new bearings trying to remove them to reshim. If I have to do that, I toss them and install new again. Be sure of what you have otherwise you'll burn up those bearings.

Or you could send them to Gary (GTR1999) and know they are going to be done right. I'm picking up my arms and differential from Gary today. He does outstanding work. Good luck.
