The speedometer on my 78 quit working. The problem is in the cruise control unit. Both cables and the speedometer head are ok. Does anyone have any info on this unit? Thanks
Same problem in my 78. I opened up the transducer and removed the corroded flywheel and spring. Put everything back togheter and the speedometer worked fine. Your other options is to get a new speedometer cable for vettes without cruise control (longer cable) and bypass the transducer or get a new transducer, my local Napa store had it stock.
Thanks! I found the cable end from the trans to the control unit twisted off. I replaced the cable and it is working but the car is still on stands. I am going to take the unit out and take it apart and check it. Although it is free now it must of bound at some point and twisted the end off the cable.
Has never worked. Found what appears to be a burnt diode inside the unit. Main concern was getting Speedometer working. I had a new lower cable so I replaced it. If I have another problem I will probably go direct to the speedometer and bypass the unit.
My cruise never worked very well even after I installed a new transducer. I purchase a cable for a vehicle without a cruise control and removed my cruise control unit. Haven't had a problem since.
