69 Rear?

69 Rear?

I just bought a 69 car for parts. It has a single traction bar that goes foward of the rear, and mounts right under the rear housing. Is this some aftermarket peice, or is it factory. I never seen one before. It is a peice of square tubbing, about 16 in long., and has a plate with 4 holes to mount right under the rear housing.

Not a factory piece. It is a traction bar that firms up the rear housing to the frame.

Thats what it looks like. Im told this was a big block car, but I cant say i ever seen the difference between a big block and a small block rear.

Nothing to do with big block vs small block, it's an aftermarket traction bar installed on this particular car and was never a factory part or option.
