My car is supposed to have the transistor ignition. Im looking to put it back when I restore the car. I need to know what all there is to the complete system. Anyone have a schematic or a list of parts that I need to put it back in. Some of the parts are there, not the distributor, but the amplifier is on the inner wheel well, which will also need replaced.
This would be a good place to start and a good resource for info. http://www.tispecialty.com/
I worked on a '68 TI 2 years ago, good systems, parts are relatively easy to get but expensive, worth it for a concours restoration, but for a driver, the reliability might be risky. The pickup coil wires are very fragile. Although the TI in the '68 worked fine, we converted it to a tach drive HEI a couple months ago for the owners peace of mind.
NOt sure on yours but we had a 66' with TI and found all the parts at radio shack and one of the bigger (electrical/tv supply stores that would sell retail) spent about $50bucks. Got enough stuff to rebuild it several times ( DON"T EVER short a plugwire to the block {Blows some diodes} ) But really not that bad to work on once you get through the first time. Good luck wro87
