Default Where does this piece go?

When I took off the signal housing :

When this piece fell out: (Two views)

This is for a 1977 corvette.
Took apart so I can replace the wash/wipe switch.
Is this piece of garbage or does it belong somewhere?

It looks like the tension spring for the key switch reminder. The white pices of plastic with two copper contacts.

NO. I removed the key switch reminder then I removed the housing and found the piece inside where the wiper switch is at.

Artsvette is 100% CORRECT! That's the spring that holds the key reminder switch in place, but the little tang that keeps it in place is gone.

Look for Jim Shea's papers on steering columns. It'll be there.

This is the picture of the key reminder switch That I removed from my 77 steering column before I removed the signal housing.
Looks almost similiar.

The key reminder switch looks in good condition. Does it have anything missing?

Maybe someone has been in there before, and didn't remove all the pieces from a broken key reminder switch. Just a thought. Cheers
