check the horn contact ring(i think that's what it's called)- the crown shaped thing the horn button attaches to. i got one that sounded the horn every time i hit a bump in the road. got a real gm part and that took care of it.
When I first bought my 1980, it had been sitting for about 6 months. After driving it for about a week I made a left turn in front of traffic and the horn went off... and didn't stop. Scared the $hit out of me.
I pulled the fuse and ordered the repair kit. When you take it apart I would recommend having the Assembly Information Manual (AIM) handy, since it is not obvious how the steering column internals go back together...especially if there are loose\broken or dislodged parts in the column itself. Mine was a combination of things. My .02.
If it were me, I would disconnect the horn for the rest of the season and then rebuild the entire collumn in the winter. I'm sure there are worn parts and it's a relativly easy project.
