1981 ac
should i convert my original ac to 134 or find some r-12 or buy a new system? i heard they dont cool as well when they are converted? what would by the ball park cost for each of those choices. black 383 4-speed in hot charlotte,nc. thanks, john.

You are better off with the R12 as that is what your system was designed for. It sells on Ebay for around $25 per can. To buy it, you either need to have your EPA 609 license or provide a letter indicating your intent to resell the refrigerant to a licensed tech. PM if you are interested in purchasing R12 as I do have a supply and sell it on Ebay.
