Default Starter Question

Hi All, Every now and then I would get that grinding sound when I'd fire up my car, so I replaced my starter. I did'nt want to get into finding out if the solenoid was bad so I just replaced the whole thing. Well guess what, after a week of no problems, it's back to the every now and then grind sound, any ideas as to what is causing this problem??? Thanks

First thought without going towards shimming would be a tooth missing off flywheel.Very preliminary thought without knowing more info.

Could you supply more details?

If it is due to the starter pinion not disengaging from the flywheel/flexplate, the clearance can be adjusted by adding a shim or two between the starter and the block.
