I have spent over $1050.00 for a new exhaust system and headers and I am still NOT happy with the sound. I have 2.5" pipes, removed CATS, (after I paid for them), Ravin 55 Mufflers, and Hooker Headers.
The car is a 1977 350, L-48. I don't want anything extremely loud, but I want a rumble, muscle car sound. Its just a little too tin can sounding.
Sell the Ravens on Ebay. Buy some Flowmasters. 3 chamber will be less noisy than a 2 chamber and still provide the umph your looking for when you stomp on it.
I'm not familar with the sound of your Raven 55's, but if you install an H-pipe or an X-pipe, you'd probably get a small performance increase along with a great new sound with increased resonance. It might take some of tinny sound out.
Headers are going to give you that tink tink sound on a small block. I have header/H-pipe/ and open chamber mufflers which sounds rumbly, but rattles every bolt in the car. Switch to the Flow's and you will be happy, then you will switch back to turbos after your hearing is gone.
I have pretty much the same set up as you VETTECOR. I have Hooker Competition Headers, 2.5" pipes, and Magna Flow Mufflers. I love the sound of the Magna Flows. But then my engine has 10.25:1 compression, and the GM 300 horse cam. I think that might have alot to do with the sound my car makes coming out those pipes too.
