Starter question
Okay I run to the auto parts store while the batt is charging grab a fusable link 20amp all they had put it on the ignition lead 2" from the starter start the car up run her for 15 do some adjustments all is fine.
Back the car out it starts to break up. I thought a Spk wire was burning on the exhaust just to give you a idea what type of breaking up it was doing. shut her down jump out to check no wire burn so jump back in start her up to check what sup and dead. the red w/ wht ign lead from the starter has no power. Jump it out direct from the battery and starts right up. I'm assuming the fusable link popped got pissed and left to came home eat and clear my head. I know the 8 gauge from the starter to the fuse box is capable of 50 amps safely. should I have used a larger fusable link a 30 or 40. What amp is the fusable link supposed to be from factory on that lead ?
I'm assuming 40 amp being that the fusable should be larger than the fuse box fuses.
Go ahead let me have if ready for abuse
Was one of the wires black and had a large connector-this one should go to a bellhousing bolt.
I'm guessing it is a short some where 2maro I just going to cut the entire ignition wire from the 12v post on the starter all the way back to the fuse box and just replace it .In the process I have to find the problem and probably bang my head on the lift 6 more times
does anyone know what value fusable link should be on the ignition starter wire ?
