Just wanted to let you guys know I just saw a story on the news about tornado air, seems they did a study on it.
They used a carb'd malibu and a fuel injected something else. suburban maybe ?
Anyway they found it didn't do poopie to help anything basically.
The milage went up 1mpg in the fuel injected and 1/2 mpg in the carb'd.
The horsepower wasn't affected at all in the carb'd and the fuel injected actually lost 3 hp from it.
So I'm sure not buying it.
Didn't think it would work anyway :)
I'm surprised it even did that. The air funneling down the venturis is best for atomization when it's smooth and unobstructed. That's why many people smooth out the intake areas above the venturis, much like the new Demon carbs. K&N sells a plastic cap kind of thing that covers those hard corner edges.
I think it's one of those infomercial products that you put on your car and it miraculously gives you 25 more hp, increases gas mileage etc, etc, along with testimonials from famous car drivers and builders, technobabble explanation about how it works, pseudo-scientific demonstration of the principle involved.... you know the drill!! :) money back guarantee, and can be yours (if you call right now!!!) 3 easy payments of $19.99... but hurry!! this offer will not be repeated!!! :) MJ
Isn't Tornado Air that stamped sheet metal plate that fits on top of your carburator and has bent tangs that are supposed to swirl the air down into the venturies? A friend of mine purchased one years ago and he swears that it does improve his fuel economy. We made multiple runs at a drag strip with and without the plate and it didn't improve his times or his speed however.
