I have a skreech above 3500 RPM.
I believe it's the power steering. I've installed new belts and tightened them as much as possible. Fluid is up to level. Is this a sign of a worn pump?
Just be sure you aren't buying cheap belts. You put them on, drive around the block and they will stretch and cause squealing. Buy premium belts. They don't stretch as they are steel wire reinforced. (Gates, Goodyear, etc.)
As for quality-don't know.
Belts are new and as tight as I can get them. What ever Autozone sells. (Yeah, I know....)
The power steering belt does ride high. Flush or above the edge of the pulley.
I had no squeel prior to the install of the new belts, but I also had the pump out of the car to repaint and replace the O ring seal on the high pressure fitting. Both pulley's are in line, so that's not it.
I hate to replace the pump if it's just the wrong/cheap belt.
It does sound like belt noise and only does it during acceleration and above 3000K RPM. Guess I'll try a differen't belt?
I've had good luck wiping my belts with laquer thinner. Start with a clean paper towel and it turns black instantly. Keep at it till the towel is fairly clean. Turn the engine over to get to the rest of the belt. Also clean the pulleys as much as possible.
This helps if the belts are dirty or glazed.
I bought some new "quality" belts.
Squeel is gone.
New belts I had from Autozone-where junk made in Mexico, no manufacturer name, and sat high on the pulleys. I installed a set of DAYCO "Made in USA" belts that fit correctly and all is good!
Thanks for the input guys! Saved me from buying a new pump-as Autozone recommended. Will never shop there again for parts.

BTW, don't expect the majority of counter people at AutoZone, Advance, etc., to solve your problems. I worked at Advance for several years after I retired and most of these guys have next to no experience working on cars and will tell you anything. If they did know what they were doing, they wouldn't be there making $10/hour or less.

It seems the typical modern day parts store worker can't figure anything out unless their computer tells them. I did get my new DAYCO belts from Advance. The kid up front wanted to know if I had the 5.7 or the 4.6 in my car. I had to assure him it was in fact a 5.7!
