Default Tilt steering play

If I have up/down play on the steering wheel at every station of the tilt column, and NO side to side play, is there a chance something just needs tightened in there or is it for certain I will have to replace those 2 lock shoes? I would like to get the shoes before I take the column apart, lest I forget how it goes back together..........

Thanks

Default colum

mine was like that when I bought it , but I'm sure there was side to side play as well , anyhow It's a bit tricky, but I took mine apart laying the parts left to right has they came off , and there are two Bolts, screws, that were loose ,take one out at a time and put medium lock tite on them and they will be good for a long time . I did this 10 yrs ago and they are still tight. My .02 Ron

Ron, do you see those two bolts/screws in these pictures, or can you direct me to them in these pictures? Thanks. I hope I don't have to take any more of this apart, this is making me quite nervous as it is...

FYI, I discovered the problem was not those screws or the shoes, but the pin that the shoes index on, it was loose and the hole on the left was a bit elongated. Once I drove the pin into that hole, it was tight and no more play in the tilt.
