Default 111196 Distributor

Hi guys, I'm very new to the forum, but this looked like the place to come to find a few answers.

I have a tach drive distributor, looks like a dual point set-up. The aluminum tag on it reads 1111296. I have done some research and it looks like this fits a 427/435 hp 1968 Corvette? I have read that this distributor is only for the L71 and L89 engines?

Now I have been informed that this distributor was originally a transitor ignition, it looks like dual point to me. Do these set-ups look very similar, or is it possible that this has been converted to dual point?

I have no use for this unit, and am planning on selling it. What would be a fair asking price for such an item? It is in excellent condition. The tack drive does turn when you turn the cam gear.

Thank you very much for any information.

According to the Black Book, your distributor came with a '68 327/350, non-transistor ignition. This refers to the 1111194. The one in your thread topic, 196 is not a '68 dist. However, 296 is for the 427/435 transistor ignition.

from your last weeks ebay ad I only see one set of points, not that it matters much points type distributors aren`t very valuable and NO they do not look alike under the cap.....a #296 distributor is valuable but ONLY if it has the TI components which yours does not.....also the reason no one bid..my offer still stands.
