Is the the 85 through 90 TPI set up workable on a GMPP 290 horse crate motor? I have been kicking around the idea of fuel injection on my Vette, and I have seen that the TPI set ups are plentiful and relatively inexpensive. Does anybody have a tale to tell? i am not looking to melt the tires, just good, streetable low and mid range power (like to two L-98s I have owned in the past).
Personally, I would skip over the TPI and upgrade the GMPP 350/290. The carb is not the limiting factor. I have a GMPP 350/330 HO with a 600 cfm Holley carb. It's awesome in terms of throttle reponse and all around performance thanks to Vortec heads, a mild (very mild) cam, proper carb and distributor tuning, full length headers, and true dual exhausts. Check your math carefully. TPI systems aren't cheap.
TPI is doo able for less than 700 bux including CalPak chip.....
and it almost doubles the fuel economy over any stock setup I seen....SB sharks typically get 15 tops on the freeway....my car jumped to 24 on the freeway and 18 mixed bag with a 336 rear and muncie it was a L48 that was mild camed and freshened up by previous owner, wasn't anything detectable rong with the stock Qjet either....
if you can find a cheaper setup than TPI....good luck with it....
I've got a 90 TPI setup on a ZZ4 crate motor. Runs great! When it got hooked to a 5 speed it's a lot more fun and gets better gas mileage...best of all worlds!

Essentially what I ran for some 15 years now, 11 years ago the essential equivalent of the ZZ4 went in this car....and had a open base, large runner hotrod L98/TPI on it, and just last winter modded up and installed a LT1 induction, complete with stock L98 dizzy.....works even better YET.....
