Default I need some TPI advice.

I'm building a 383 motor now and I have TBI unit to install on it I plan on running it with the Holley 950 Commander harness and ECU. I have had some discussions with people that the TPI may not be up to the task because of the small runner size may restrict the engine above say 5800 rpms. I do plan on bigger injectors, 24 lbs. What has been forum members experience with TPI and larger motors like the 383.

A LARGE runner TPI OR one with the siamese ports on the intake would be fine on the 383, BUT....I feel you better off with a modded up LT1 intake on it....and L98 dizzy...takes a bit of work and thought and welding and prep, but it CAN be done....if I did it, you can too....

I have a pix on my site of the older TPI on there, but the later LT1 intake is not photo'd yet and on site....I forget to do that....

same concept, same up/over induction, same everything, really, just a total different install...lower...

Here is my LT1 conversion going on my 383 soon. I added nitrous to it as well. You can visit www.LT1intake.com for more info on the conversion. They show you how to do it yourself but don't bother contacting the guy as he doesn't respond anymore and he has ripped a guy off on an other Forum (took his money and manifold a year ago).

OH great, sorry to hear about that site/guy but his site did prove to me that it COULD be done in a garage and without doing a act of financial hairy cairy and one hung LO as a result...

so, I got a set of rails/regulator and mani for 150 bux off epay....

now having gotten them I was VERY discouraged for over a week, then I got a set of Felpro intake gaskets and started lining up stuff.... drilled the holes I needed for the L98 heads, went to Harbor Freight and bought a FORSTNER bit set....the whole set was only 7-8 bux last winter here....

I cut the end off the on the 7/8 size and then took a grinder to shape the BACKSIDE of the bit to cut in REVERSE when pushed in from top side, and then chucked into a hand drill in Reverse rotation....it cut the intake metal to a plane agreeing with the L98 heads....

then the tricky part....the welding...for the front outputs for the water and ordering the remote thermostat housing....then the more complex install of the dizzy in back for THAT you need a guy who TIG welds and make no bones about it....that guy has some awful fancy machine tools OR a couple bungs off Summit Racing.com and you can have them TIGd in and over with....
I put a couple pipes in back for flow to the heater return line....

IF you takes your time you CAN do it, but you have to do one thing at a time and it not necessary to tear down your car to do it either.....

then again, I have BTDT many times so know a few tricks...numero UNO is patience.....and study....

I am also looking for a fuel injection system for my stroker (well at least thinking about it). I was concerned after reading about the RPM limitations from the GM TPI's. Interesting options for full retro kits from FIRST ~ $1950(TPI) http://www.firstfuelinjection.com/products.htm and affordable fuel injection ~ $1400(TBI) http://www.affordable-fuel-injection...Fuel+Injection

It's just an LT1 painted to look like the LT4. The throttle body cover (LT4) can still be purchased from Ebay. Here is a different one I'm just completing. It's more of a smooth look. The map sensor is hidden beneath a billet top cover that I made. You can see different fuel rails in the background I have depending on how I want to route the fuel lines. The super ram setup will be my last fuelinjection system to play with. I really like the look of the new Edelbrock ProFlo XT. It just might fit under a stock Corvette hood as it is slightly shorter then the Holley Stealth Ram that is about an inch too tall. It is just about to be released. The FIRST TPI style setup is one of the best bang for your buck street setups.
