Default transmission questions

Alright I'm looking for a good transmission swap but I can't choose a tranny. I don't need high performance but would like to swap the current 4speed automatic to something with OD for improved fuel efficiency. What are some of the better trannies to go for at a reasonable price?

try bow tie overdrive.com i put a 200r4 in my 80 they have a crossmember that bolts rite in also with the 200r4 you dont have to cut the drive shaft, i'm very happy with trans shifts firm at cruise and will bark the tires when you get on it

I don't think your current tranny is a 4 speed auto. Should be a 3 speed if stock. Anyway, you'll be looking for a 200-4R or a 700r4. They have different gear ratios and installation issues. There are tons of posts on this forum about each. Just do a search. Also, take a look at Bowtie Overdrives website:

http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/index.shtml

I'm leaning toward the 200-4R myself but haven't made a final choice yet.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
