Default Brake line size

Brake line size. Is there anyone out there who know if you measure the inside diameter or the outside diameter on hard steel brake line to obtain the size. 3/16", 1/4", etc

As I recall Corvettes use nearly exclusively 3/16 lines. The fittings on the ends however are of different sizes into the master cylinder and proportioning valve. A wise move to remove the old lines with fittings attached very carefully. They are hard to find and most counter people suddenly get very dumb or dumber when discussing fittings. They dont normally have a clue.l Save the old ones or better yet buy a new steel brake line kit for the Vette and be done with it. Stainless is not necessary as sometimes it`s hard to seal unlike plain steel lines.

This is a good point - but if you do go with Stainless, make sure you have a VERY good set of flare nut wrenches - without them, you will strip the hexes off the nuts with the additional torque required for good sealing.

Tube is measured by O.D., hose is measured by I.D.
