diff side yoke freeplay

diff side yoke freeplay
while changing the spring bolts to 8", i noticed (to my horror) that with the spring disconnected from the trailing arm, i could push the half shaft and the side yoke inward about 1/4" on both sides. the yokes don't seem to be protruding from the case when the half shafts are pulled outward. is this normal?

NO, you are at least way over TWICE over the absolute max allowed.....sorry 'bout that....
you end yokes and the cross shaft at a MINIMUM need replacing....
pull the rear outta there, and pull the rear cover off, and have a look, any questions, and you need show a pix or two.....
