With a lot of care. The motor is mounted to the window regulator which is spring loaded (it has spring tension on the motor gear). So you must remove the regulator, place a bolt through the gear to prevent it from moving when you remove the motor. The thing could pop you in the face if you don't lock the gear in place. Before I removed the motor I would take an emory board and clean the electrical contacts on the motor and the plug to make sure you have a good connection. Cleaning the contacts helped me when my motor wasn't working. Iam assuming you have a 1979. You didn't say and your profile is incomplete. I have a 1979, L-82.

Default thanks ken

sorry ken...yes I have the same as you..1979 L-82...it seems that the removal of inner door panel [metal] is nessessary..is it?..I removed a smaller 6" by 12" panel and can see right 2 thirds of moter..but not where its mounted..is removal of inner metal panel required? thanks for your reply..dave

Dave....The window regulator is bolted to the metal door panel. Once you unbolt the regulator and slip the fiberglass rollers out of the tracks on the door glass and the track bolted to the inside of the metal panel you can then remove the regulator through the opening where you took the cover off. There are two bolts that hold the roller track to the inside of the metal door panel about midway from the top and to the rear. Take those two bolts out and that short roller track will slide off of the roller on the regulator. There are some guys on the Forum that have great pictures of the inside of the door and the window regulator. Maybe one of them with catch this thread and send you the picture.
If you order a free catalog from MidAmerica Corvette they have a good picture in their catalog of the inner door.

You will notice a spring in the middle of the regulator. That spring winds up tight when you lower the window and assists the motor in raising the window. There is a hole in the middle of the gear to place a bolt to prevent the spring from unwinding when you remove the motor. Make sure you do that prior to removing the motor.

By the way Dave...this is not a five minute job. Be patient and persistant and you will get it. May take a little extra effort with your window stuck in the down position.
