I heard somewhere that there is one 1983 Corvette at the museum...is that true? I heard they made one so 2003 would still be the 50th anniversary.
I forget the number but more then one was built, something like 30 were built. They were used for testing the assembly line, testing the car, and for press preview. All but one and a half were destroyed. The one is at the National Corvette Museum (see above). The half? There was half an '83, split down the center front to rear, above the entry door into the factory tour area. It was there thru '97/'98 and was then taken down. Don't have any idea where that half went.
I believe it does'nt have anything to do with the "model year(s)" skipped. 2003 will be the 50th anniversary regardless of no '83s ever sold to the public.'97 was almost the same way.:yesnod:
