Fuel Mileage
My '76 L-48 is getting 14 mpg around town. It's got the standard 3.36 gears. Other than running rough when it's cold, the engine runs smooth and has decent pickup. Is 14 mpg normal ? If not, is a carb rebuild in order? I've already done a tuneup, with plugs, wires, and cap. adjusted the timing, etc.

I have the same set up and I'd say 14 mpg in town is pretty good. Mine has always been around 10/11 in town and 14 or so on the road since day one when I bought it new.

I get 20.4 mpg in stop and go traffic, but I've done a lot of mods.

14 is about what I got with most of the motors I put in my 80. I had 18 with the first 80 vette (First one I was hit and it was totaled, but I found another that could be it's twin) but the lobes were badly worn on the cam in that motor.
The new motor I just put in im hoping for the best... It has vortec heads and roller cam/lifters/rockers which should make it more efficient, but I put in a little bigger cam than I've put before so i'm not sure how badly that will hurt the milage

My 76 L48 is stock except for dual exhaust, and gets 14-15 in the daily commute traffic. Sounds normal to me...
