I have a 79 L-48 with the original automatic transmission. The slip yoke that I removed was a 27 spline slip yoke and apparently is no longer manufactured even in the aftermarket realm. So, what years of corvette have this odd 27 spline slip yoke?
The TH350, PG and most Muncies all used the same number of splines in the yoke. It should be very common; later cars used a wider u-joint span however.

This is what I thought but after further research there are two different slip yokes used. The M20 (manual 31 spline) and M38 (automatic 27 spline). The one that I have is no longer manufactured, rebuilt or found. I sent it to a drive shaft specialist for further review with the same result.

I have a nice one here but you already know that.....
My slip yoke is in good shape so I'm fortunate not to need another. If I were to purchase a USED one I would want to see detailed pictures to see what I'm getting and the price would have to match the product. I could get a NOS off of Ebay for $125.
Thanks, Larry. In 79, automatic transmission type was 3 speed turbo hydra-matic 350 with a 3:55:1 rear. I'm assuming most vette's with the same transmission had the same type of slip yoke? AND they would be the same for Auto and Manual???
The automatic was the TH350 and took the smaller yoke; the manual trans may have been either of two types, the ST-10 and a Muncie or Saginaw 4 speed, but I'm not sure about the latter. One of these 2 manual transmissions may have had the smaller tailshaft and would take the smaller yoke. Perhaps someone who knows the transmission options for 79 can ring in here.
Well, I had sent the drive shaft and slip yoke to "Denny's Drive Shaft" in NY. New spicer u-joints installed, shaft balance inspected and slip yoke polished. I installed a new rear transmission output shaft seal along with the drive shaft and all is well. So, if you need any specialized or custom corvette drive shaft, half shaft or u-joint work done then this is the place for you: http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/c29_corvette.html
