Ignition tumbler
I am new to cars and even newer to corvettes I just got a 1976 stingray from my father in law when he lost his sight he tore it apart to restore it and now i am trying to do it. So here is my first question the ignition key will not turn to the off position i have unhooked the the rod from the ignition switch and it still won't turn so i pulled apart the steering wheel and colum all the way down to the key switch but can't figure how to get that out. any help would be greatly appriciated.

When I removed the switch in my 74, I had to "punch" through some flashing in the steering cloumn , If you want I'll try and send you the procedure from my shop manual.It might be the same for a 76
