Default Crossfire timing problem

I am still trying to fire up my rebuilt crossfire motor and have ran into another problem. When I put in the distributor I had the rotor pointed towards #1 and when I tried to start it I had to rotate the cap counter clockwise 1/4 of a turn just to get it to fire but it still will not start. I am fairly sure that I set the distributor with #1 at top dead center on the compression stroke. What does a engine act like if you have it off by 180? Any ideas would definently be a help.

180 off, simply won't start, won't do anything.

There's a "1" imprinted on the module!

I guess I must be a little slow today - what does the "1" stand for on the module?

#1 spark plug tower, so if you aim the rotor there all will be fine

When you drop in the dist., clock it counter clockwise an inch so when the gears mesh the dist. is right on.

Or just drop it in where you want it and bump the starter, it will drop right in place.
